North Korean troops retreated from the Kursk region due to heavy losses and are no longer engaged in combat.

This was confirmed by South Korean intelligence, as reported by Yonhap News.

According to intelligence data, North Korean soldiers fighting alongside Russian forces against Ukraine were withdrawn from the front lines in mid-January, likely due to significant casualties.

"Since mid-January, there have been no signs of North Korean troops deployed in Russia's Kursk region participating in combat," South Korean officials stated.

Estimates suggest that North Korea sent around 11,000 soldiers to support Russia in its war against Ukraine. Of these, approximately 300 were killed, and around 2,700 were wounded, according to South Korea's intelligence agency.
