The Security Service of Ukraine arrested a Russian military intelligence agent (known as GRU) in Odessa. The suspect had been setting fire to energy facilities of Ukrzaliznytsia and preparing hideouts with firearms and explosives components.

According to the case materials, the individual is a 32-year-old woman from Odessa, who was remotely recruited by a Russian GRU special operations officer at the end of last year.

It was established that, following his instructions, the traitor set fire to a relay cabinet of a signaling system and a transformer substation on the local railway line.

The agent was then assigned a new task—to create a hideout near the port with components for a homemade explosive device (HED).

For this, the woman traveled to Dnipro, where, under the guidance of her Russian handler, she retrieved an element of explosives hidden in a cigarette pack.

After returning to Odessa, the traitor attempted to plant the HED components in a pre-prepared hideout near the port infrastructure.

At this stage, the SSU counterintelligence agents caught her "in the act" and seized part of the explosive device.

It was also established that the next component of the hideout was firearms, which the suspect was supposed to retrieve from another frontline city.

During a search of the arrested woman's belongings, a mobile phone was seized, containing evidence of communication with the Russian GRU.

The suspect is currently in custody and faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
