Ukraine and Egypt have agreed on a set of concrete steps to stimulate trade in key agricultural products, including grain and sunflower oil, the Embassy of Ukraine in Egypt reports.

On July 30, Ukraine’s Ambassador Mykola Nahornyi met with the leadership of the Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development agency. During the talks, both sides reviewed the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the two countries aimed at increasing Ukrainian agricultural exports to Egypt.

“Ukraine continues to be a key guarantor of global food security and reaffirms its commitment to supporting stable deliveries of high-quality agricultural products to the Egyptian market — both through private businesses and in cooperation with governmental institutions. The measures agreed aim not only to expand trade volumes, but also to provide the efficiency, timeliness, and transparency of logistical processes,” the statement said.

According to the embassy, Egypt remains Ukraine’s largest trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. In the first half of 2025, Ukraine exported 1.31 million tons of wheat, 1.06 million tons of corn, and 360,000 tons of soybeans to Egypt. The total bilateral trade volume during this period reached $947.9 million.

The Future of Egypt for Sustainable Development agency plays a key role in implementing Egypt’s national sustainable development strategy. It focuses on attracting investments, introducing advanced technologies, and developing renewable energy sources. Since December 2024, it has been responsible for Egypt’s main import operations.
