Ukraine has offered the Korean government institution to join in supporting projects aimed at restoring the energy sector.

Deputy Minister of Economy Volodymyr Kuzio reported this. According to him, opportunities for grant and investment programs for energy restoration were discussed during a video conference between the Ministry of Economy and the leadership of the Korean government institution KIND (Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation), which already supports several projects in Ukraine aimed at restoration.

"We are constantly seeking new opportunities with our partners to restore damaged capacities faster. Private investments are crucial in this context. Ukraine's investment potential in the energy sector is estimated at around $168 billion over the next 10 years," Kuzio said.

He also informed that the Ukrainian side proposed to KIND to consider expanding support for projects in Ukraine to include projects aimed at energy restoration and ensuring energy independence for municipalities, particularly through financing distributed generation development.

"We are aware of Korean business interest in such projects," Kuzio noted.

According to the Deputy Minister, during the meeting, they also discussed KIND's participation in projects in Ukraine, including work on the transport master plan of Kyiv region, the smart city master plan of Uman, and plans for the reconstruction/restoration of Ukrainian airports.

Among the projects discussed were technical assistance in the reconstruction of the Kakhovka Dam, railway renovation including launching a high-speed connection between Kyiv and Poland, and a project for wastewater treatment in Bucha.
