Ukraine has regained control of the "Boyko Towers," which are gas and oil drilling platforms located near the shores of the temporarily occupied Crimea in the Black Sea, according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
"Russia occupied them ('Boyko Towers') in 2015 and has been using them for military purposes, including as helicopter landing sites and for the placement of radar equipment," the statement posted on Telegram channel reads.
It is noted that the drilling platforms "Petro Hodovanets" and "Ukraine," as well as the self-propelled drilling rigs "Tavrida" and "Sivash," were returned under Ukrainian control. The operation to establish control over the "Boyka Towers" was carried out by units of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
"During the operation, special forces managed to capture valuable trophies: a supply of unguided aviation rockets (NAR) and the 'Neva' radar system, which can track the movement of vessels in the Black Sea," the statement emphasizes.
Additionally, during one phase of this operation, a skirmish occurred between Ukrainian special forces on boats and a Russian Su-30 fighter jet. As a result of the confrontation, the Russian aircraft sustained damage and was forced to retreat.
