Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko held an online meeting with Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities of the Kingdom of Denmark Lars Aagaard Møller. The parties discussed the situation in the Ukrainian energy sector after another wave of shelling and ways to deepen cooperation between the countries in the development of renewable energy sources.
The Minister of Energy of Ukraine noted that Ukraine had great potential for the development of wind power generation, which has been significantly affected by russian military aggression.
"We need investments and affordable financing in clean energy projects: wind and solar energy production, hydrogen, electricity and biomass storage. Denmark has huge expertise in the field of distributed renewable energy generation. Denmark's assistance in assessing wind generation capacities in Ukraine, as well as support for the development of the legislative framework for offshore wind generation, can make a significant contribution to our recovery," emphasized German Galushchenko.
The parties noted the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation within the framework of the Ukrainian-Danish Energy Partnership and agreed to sign a memorandum on expanding the partnership in the field of wind generation.
German Galushchenko also thanked Denmark for its assistance to Ukraine's energy sector - a humanitarian cargo with equipment weighing over 5.7 tonnes and a contribution to the Energy Sector Support Fund worth EUR 538,000.
Lars Aagaard, in his turn, assured that Denmark would continue to support Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the fight against the aggressor, as well as help with the restoration and decentralization of the energy sector.
