Ukraine will receive an additional $84 million in funding from the World Bank for the project “Housing Repair to Restore Rights and Opportunities (HOPE).” The funds will be directed toward repairing housing damaged as a result of Russian aggression, under the “eRecovery” programme.
It is expected that with this funding, more than 25,000 households will be able to repair their homes.
The World Bank’s Board of Directors approved this decision on May 9.
On May 15, the agreement for additional financing between Ukraine and the International Development Association was signed by Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister for Ukraine’s Recovery and Minister for Communities and Territories Development, Oleksii Kuleba, and the World Bank’s Regional Director for Eastern Europe, Bob Som.
The HOPE project aims to address urgent and critical repair needs of partially damaged individual and multi-apartment residential buildings in territorial communities controlled by the Ukrainian government that suffered due to the Russian Federation’s aggression on Ukraine’s territory.
Since the start of the HOPE project, over 87,000 households have already received compensation for damaged property.
The additional project funding is provided under the Special Program for Recovery for Ukraine and Moldova (IDA SPUR) of the International Development Association’s Crisis Response Window.
