Vladyslav Fomenko, Game/Technical Designer at VG Entertainment, is working on his own project — an FPV drone simulator where players destroy enemy vehicles by hitting vulnerable spots. According to the developer, the game offers realistic controls using a controller, as well as simplified controls that allow easy drone operation with a keyboard and mouse. Players must complete various combat missions: destroying vehicles, finding and striking key armored targets from the air, which may be protected by electronic warfare.
Each enemy vehicle in Remote Reaper has vulnerable points. The player's task is to find these critical spots and deliver precise strikes for effective destruction.
"Military vehicles are not destroyed with the first hit — they are armored. However, every vehicle has weak spots: less armored areas, fuel tanks, connection points, or external equipment. Hitting these points causes critical damage, allowing the target to be destroyed with minimal resources," explains Fomenko. He also mentions that before an attack, pilots should study the target’s structure on the training map and determine the correct angle of attack. Thoughtless strikes on armor won’t be effective and will result in loss of ammunition and drones, but a precise strike on a vulnerable spot can destroy the target in one shot.
Fomenko plans to add external structures, such as nets, to the game, which are often used in reality to protect against FPV drones. This protection will need to be bypassed just like the vehicle’s armor.
"The armor mechanics make each battle more dynamic and realistic, bringing the gameplay closer to real-world FPV drone tactics," believes the developer.
Remote Reaper was released in early April and is expected to remain in early access for about a year. During the first week of release, Fomenko improved control settings and expanded the list of supported FPV controllers, worked on bug fixes, and added improvements requested by players. He also updated the balance, including changes to drones, vulnerable zones, and difficulty levels. In the future, he will continue supporting "specific FPV controllers" and plans to implement a control template system, as well as add a ready preset for the Xbox One controller.
While the project is still in early access, Remote Reaper: FPV Drone already includes all the main mechanics and some content. Version 1.0 will feature more content, including new mechanics, targets, and maps. The game is currently priced at 150 UAH with a 25% discount, and its price will increase after leaving early access.
