Volodymyr Zelensky disclosed for the first time the number of Ukrainian military personnel who have died in the war during a press conference following the "Ukraine. Year 2024" forum.
"I don't know if I have the right to answer, because this is a serious moment. 31,000 military personnel have died in this war. Not 300,000, not 150,000, but each loss is significant for us," said Zelensky.
"I won't speak about how many wounded we have, because Russia will know how many of our people have left the battlefield. We don't know how many of our civilians have been killed," the president said. He also added that Russia's losses amount to 180,000, and with the wounded, up to 500,000.
"There are missing persons, but I won't name them to avoid being inaccurate. We know about tens of thousands of civilian deaths in the temporarily occupied territories. But the exact number is unknown to us," Zelensky said.
