On October 26 and 27, an unusual guest could be seen in Lviv — Zhanna Kadyrova’s sculpture Origami Deer, which was evacuated last year from the front-line city of Pokrovsk. Very soon, the work will travel to Venice, where it will be presented at the 61st Venice Biennale as part of the project Security Guarantees.
This was reported by the Lviv City Council.
This project is Kadyrova’s solo exhibition, curated by Ksenia Malykh, Program Director of the Promprylad Art Center, and historian Leonid Maruschak, head of the NGO Museum Open for Reconstruction. The exhibition explores the unfulfilled security promises made to Ukraine after it gave up its nuclear arsenal.

Over two days in Lviv, the Origami Deer visited several locations — the Municipal Art Center, Zenyk Art Gallery, the Academy of Arts, the Military Hospital, Rynok Square, and the Main Railway Station.
Lviv became the sculpture’s final stop before its journey to Venice. Previously, the project had been shown in Kyiv, Yasinia, and Ivano-Frankivsk. The sculpture is already on its way to Venice, with one more stop in Białystok, Poland, where it will be displayed as part of the Security Guarantees project.
The 61st Venice Biennale will run from May 9 to November 22, 2026.
