Russian forces attacked the Kherson region with nearly 2,000 drones over the past week, and Ukrainian defenders destroyed 77% of them.
These figures were announced at a briefing by the spokesperson of the 30th Marine Corps, Senior Lieutenant Pavlo Drohal.
“Russian occupiers continue to cynically attack civilians both in the city of Kherson and in settlements of the region. In particular, the enemy carried out 448 shellings of Ukrainian defenders’ positions and civilian infrastructure. Russian invaders also launched eight airstrikes,” he said.
Drohal reported that Russian forces continue to use UAVs of various types and modifications. Civilians and critical infrastructure suffer the most from these attacks.
According to the spokesperson, due to weather conditions last week, the number of Russian UAVs slightly decreased. A total of 1,964 FPV drone attacks were recorded, 612 of them within the Kherson territorial community.
Using electronic warfare systems, from August 18 to 24, 1,522 UAVs were destroyed or suppressed, 439 of them within the Kherson community. According to the Regional Military Administration, thanks to the work of Ukrainian forces, 77% of Russian UAVs were destroyed within the week.
