Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed a plan of action aimed at forcing Russia into real negotiations with participants of the EU Defense Ministers' meeting in Warsaw. Umerov reported this on Facebook.
The minister thanked European partners for their unwavering solidarity and support for Ukraine throughout 11 years of resistance to Russian aggression, particularly during over three years of full-scale invasion.
“We have a clear plan of action aimed at forcing Russia into real negotiations,” Umerov stated.
Together with allies, the focus is on three key objectives:
-
Holding the frontline;
-
Protecting Ukraine's skies – creating a strong air defense system for the safety of cities, the economy, and the military;
-
Developing long-range capabilities to target logistics and destroy the enemy's offensive potential.
According to the minister, more weapons for Ukraine means a shorter path to peace.
“We need support in key areas: ammunition, long-range missiles, armored vehicles, aviation, and air defense systems,” emphasized the head of the defense ministry.
The parties also paid special attention to defense industry issues.
“Strengthening Ukraine’s defense industry capabilities is a contribution to the security not only of Ukraine but also of the entire European space,” the minister stressed.
Ukraine is open to joint projects – both under the 'Danish model' and in other formats. Ukraine is also ready to invest in the defense industries of EU countries.
“Our strategic goal is the full integration of Ukraine's industrial base into the European defense ecosystem. Expanding military assistance and developing joint production is the path to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine and throughout the continent,” Umerov concluded.
