During the investigation of the missile strike on the training ground in Dnipropetrovsk region, the head of the unit training center and the commander of the military unit have been suspended from duty.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, announced this on Facebook.

Syrskyi stated that at midday on March 1, the Russian forces attacked one of the military units at the training ground of the Ukrainian Ground Forces in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The strike, carried out with an Iskander-M ballistic missile equipped with cluster munitions, resulted in casualties and injuries.

"A comprehensive commission, led by the head of the Main Directorate of the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, is working at the scene to determine all the circumstances and causes of the tragedy. While the investigation is ongoing, the head of the unit training center and the commander of the military unit have been relieved of their duties," Syrskyi emphasized.

The Commander-in-Chief instructed the commanders of various branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to conduct an inspection regarding compliance with orders from the General Staff and General Command concerning timely missile threat alerts, prohibitions or restrictions on personnel placement, and the holding of meetings or gatherings in open areas or in unauthorized locations.

Syrskyi also tasked them with reviewing the implementation of previously assigned measures regarding the conduct of training sessions outside designated training grounds, preferably in fortified and well-protected structures that ensure the safety of personnel, as well as assessing the engineering work done to equip such facilities.

"I express my deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen Ukrainian defenders. The Russian aggressor will pay a heavy price for this crime," Syrskyi stressed.

According to media reports, more than 30 soldiers stationed in the area were killed by the Russian Iskander missile strike on the training ground in Cherkask, Dnipropetrovsk region.

Commander of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, has ordered an independent investigation involving military counterintelligence to examine the circumstances of the soldiers' deaths following the Russian attack.
