A meeting of the Senior Supervisory Board of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Analysis, Training, and Education Center (JATEC) was held in Kyiv.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Senior Supervisory Board and NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Tom Gooffus, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Boyev, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Brigadier General Oleg Apostol, JATEC Commander Brigadier General Wojciech Ozga, and representatives from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, NATO Representation in Ukraine, and the NATO-Ukraine Joint Center (JATEC).

Board members agreed that the fact that the meeting was held in Kyiv with NATO representatives, Polish Armed Forces, and other high-ranking officials was a signal of the Alliance’s unity with Ukraine.

"Undoubtedly, the main ultimate goal of any projects is a just peace and strong security for Ukraine. Both Ukraine and NATO are interested in the development of JATEC. The results of the Joint Center's work are beneficial for both sides," emphasized Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Serhiy Boyev.

During the meeting, strategic issues related to JATEC's activities and the implementation of previous organizational tasks were discussed. Special attention was given to involving partners in the work of the NATO-Ukraine Joint Center, building resilience of information systems, supporting education and training, interoperability, and collaboration in developing solutions to battlefield challenges.

Additionally, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Apostol stressed the importance of joint efforts to develop countermeasures against enemy FPV drones using fiber-optic control, which will be the subject of the next NATO Innovation Challenge. Following the previous hackathon, during which teams proposed countermeasures against enemy KABs, testing and trialing of proposals in combat conditions is underway.

"Ukraine and NATO are becoming closer to developing cooperation and joint efforts in several areas, including resilience, civilian protection, and new technologies. Our work within the framework of JATEC demonstrates the joint commitment of both the Alliance and Ukraine to quickly and cooperatively fulfill the tasks set," said NATO Assistant Secretary General for Operations Tom Gooffus.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Senior Supervisory Board of JATEC defined clear criteria for achieving full operational capabilities of the Center and outlined work plans for 2025-2026.
