The First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk, met with the Secretary of State at the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Poland, Pawel Zalewski. The officials discussed the needs of Ukraine’s Defense Forces and key areas of military cooperation.
During the meeting, Ukrainian officials briefed their Polish counterparts on the current situation on the battlefield and the immediate requests of the Ukrainian military. Ivan Havryliuk shared that strengthening air defense capabilities and ensuring the supply of 155mm caliber ammunition remain among Ukraine's priority needs. He also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation between the defense-industrial enterprises of the two countries.
In turn, Pawel Zalewski confirmed Poland’s continued support for Ukraine in its fight against the aggressor and expressed Poland’s intention to join the "coalition of the willing," aimed at ensuring future peace in Ukraine.
"We are committed to supporting Ukraine. We understand that the security and sovereignty of Ukraine, the strength of its Defense Forces, are key elements of the security of Europe and Poland. We support the creation of the 'coalition of the willing' in Europe. We will be a part of it, but we will not send our troops to Ukraine. Our role will be in ensuring logistics and the necessary infrastructure," said the Secretary of State at the Polish Ministry of National Defense.
Additionally, he announced that a new military aid package has already been prepared, and its delivery will begin soon.
The parties also exchanged views on the development of the geopolitical situation and its impact on the defense capabilities of Ukraine and Europe.
"Today, dynamic events are taking place not only in the history of Ukraine and Europe but also in the world. We must be ready for all challenges. The fate of future generations depends on us — both in Ukraine and in Poland," stated Ivan Havryliuk.
At the end of the meeting, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine once again expressed gratitude to the people and government of Poland for the significant military and humanitarian assistance provided.
