Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, believes that the strike and reconnaissance system Bulava from the company DeViro is pushing out the Russian loitering munition “Lancet.”
He shared footage showing the Ukrainian drone in action targeting enemy positions.
“Until recently, the Russian ‘Lancet’ dominated the skies. Today, it is being replaced by solutions from members of the Brave1 defense innovation cluster. The strike-reconnaissance system Bulava from DeViro is already performing combat missions and surpasses the ‘Lancet’ in key indicators,” wrote the head of the Ministry of Digital Transformation.
According to him, Bulava is capable of destroying targets in complex conditions deep behind enemy lines. The published video shows the drone hitting priority targets such as electronic warfare and air defense systems, including the Buk and Tor. It is noted that Bulava has a number of unique characteristics that are not disclosed for security reasons.
Earlier, the drone known on the international market as Mace was presented at Eurosatory 2024. The reported specifications of the Ukrainian analogue of the “Lancet” included:
- Wingspan of about 1.6 meters, length around 1.5 meters;
- Takeoff weight of 11 kg, with 3.6 kg allocated to the warhead;
- Flight time at cruising speed of 100 km/h — 50 minutes.
It was also noted that the drone features machine vision with automatic target detection and tracking, spoofing detection, and resistance to electronic warfare (EW).
“Right now, we are critically lacking such means to strike the enemy, and when it comes to ‘middle strike’ drones, we are seriously behind the Russians. Work in this area is extremely important and necessary, so the emergence of these tools is very encouraging and gives hope for more effective resistance against the enemy on the front lines,” — DeepState project commented on Fedorov’s post.
