Lithuania has supplied the Ukrainian army with modern short-range man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS) along with missiles.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense announced the delivery on Thursday via the social media platform X.
“Lithuania continues to deliver vital support to Ukraine’s defence. A new delivery of advanced portable air defence systems with missiles has reached Ukraine, strengthening its ability to counter Russia’s brutal aggression,” the statement reads.
A press release on the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense’s website, cited by Delfi, also notes that this year, Lithuania’s primary areas of support for Ukraine include urgent needs such as air defense, ammunition, and drones, while simultaneously developing Lithuania’s defense industry. Additionally, Lithuania is expected to support Ukraine’s defense sector by financing weapons produced in Ukraine.
Furthermore, Lithuania plans to continue contributing to the Demining Coalition, which it co-leads with Iceland, as well as to other coalitions of forces in which it is a member.
Lithuania is also expected to provide military aid through international funds, collective initiatives, and ongoing training for Ukrainian soldiers, as well as rehabilitation for wounded troops.
According to the ministry, since the beginning of the war, Lithuania has provided Ukraine with military assistance worth over €767 million. The total long-term support from Lithuania to Ukraine has exceeded €1.5 billion, the statement says.
