President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky took part in a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing held via VTC. The meeting was co-chaired by Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Keir Starmer and President of France Emmanuel Macron.
The Head of State informed partners about Ukraine’s contacts with the team of the United States regarding work on security guarantees for Ukraine.
“We’re working on a framework document. It must be strong enough to truly work. We believe this document should be approved by the U.S. Congress – this would mean real, solid – legally binding – security guarantees for our country. And they must actually be implemented,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.
The President emphasized that an effective security guarantees model is impossible without Europe and all other members of the Coalition of the Willing – from Canada to Japan to Australia and New Zealand. He thanked all partners for their support of Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukraine discussed with the U.S. side an economic agreement that provides for U.S. participation in Ukraine’s recovery, postwar development, and joint investment projects.
“Also yesterday, we sent the American team a revised version of the framework document we worked on. It includes 20 key points. This can be the foundation for everything. I’m waiting for feedback from America,” the President emphasized.
The Head of State separately highlighted the importance of expanding the PURL initiative. Volodymyr Zelensky thanked all countries providing defense assistance, strengthening air defense, and supporting Ukraine’s protection during Russian strikes on the energy infrastructure.
The President urged partners to accelerate efforts to resolve the issue of using frozen Russian assets for the benefit of Ukraine.
The Head of State also noted that Ukraine is ready to hold elections, but a ceasefire must be ensured for this to happen.
“And America can help with this the most. If there is a need for elections now, there must be a ceasefire – at least during the election process and during voting. This is something that must be discussed. Honestly, we think here in Ukraine that America should speak to the Russian side about this,” Volodymyr Zelensky stressed.
