Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko held an online meeting with Deputy Prime Minister of Sweden and Minister for Energy, Business and Industry Ebba-Elisabeth Busch.
German Galushchenko stressed that russia continued to carry out massive attacks on the energy sector of Ukraine, striking, in particular, at thermal and hydroelectric generation facilities.
"Russians are trying to disconnect our energy system, making it impossible to transmit electricity from one part of the country to another. However, Ukrainian power engineers do incredible things, and carrying out repairs 24/7, they restore power supply again and again," the Minister stressed.
He noted that such a large number of repairs quickly depleted the warehouses of materials and equipment provided to Ukraine by international partners.
Ms. Ebba-Elisabeth Busch stressed that Sweden had already sent Ukraine more than 180 tons of assistance for the energy sector, which includes, in particular, diesel generators.
The Minister also noted that in 2023 the Swedish side would invest in the restoration of Ukraine through the World Bank and EBRD programs.
German Galushchenko thanked Sweden for the assistance provided and stressed that projects for the restoration and reconstruction of the Ukrainian energy sector should be prepared now in order to start their implementation the day after Ukraine's victory in the war.
