British Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, arrived in Ukraine and on Thursday visited the Superhumans rehabilitation center in Lviv, where he met with victims of  war.

Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, founded The Invictus Games Foundation in the UK in 2014 — a global sporting event for wounded and injured service members and veterans.

Harry served in the British Army for 10 years and was deployed to Afghanistan twice. He lost several close friends in combat. Thanks to his fame and the weight of his public voice, the prince has done a great deal to ensure that people around the world understand and respect veterans.

In 2013, Harry attended the American version of the Invictus Games — the Warrior Games. There, he came up with the idea of creating an international competition of a similar format, and by 2014, the first Invictus Games were held in London.

"He named the Games "Invictus," inspired by the poem of the same name by British poet William Ernest Henley. “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul” — these lines perfectly describe Superhumans, and in general, our mission and vision align completely with the Invictus mission. Prince Harry met with all the guys who took part in the Games this winter — not just the Superhumans. He was incredibly warm and emotionally generous — no royal formalities. He hugged everyone, found a kind word for each person, and toured the Center attentively and with genuine interest," wrote Andriy Stavnitser, the founder of Superhumans.

“This is my first visit to Ukraine — and definitely not the last. It was a tremendous honor and privilege for me to come here together with the Invictus delegation, including some of our athletes and Games participants from the UK over the past ten years. To come to the Superhumans Center, and witness the incredible, outstanding rehabilitation and care being provided under one roof, in a facility purpose-built for this — it’s simply remarkable,” Prince Harry said about us.

During his visit, Prince Harry met with patients and medical staff, as well as with Ukraine’s Minister for Veterans Affairs, Nataliia Kalmykova.

Prince Harry became the second member of the royal family to visit Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, following the Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie, who visited Kyiv last year.
