Russian troops have reduced the activity of their assault units near the border of Sumy region, but the Russian forces does not abandon attempts to advance using small groups.
This was stated by the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Demchenko, during a national telethon broadcast.
"The length of the border with Russia within Sumy region is about 550 km. And only on a small section does the enemy continue to use the tactic of attempting to enter with small assault groups. Armored vehicles, which the enemy tried to use to break through our border there, are not detected. Infantry groups try to use quad bikes or motorized vehicles," Demchenko said.
According to him, in those defense sectors where the units of the State Border Guard Service are deployed, over the last several days, the activity of Russian infantry groups and attempts to enter Ukrainian territory have somewhat decreased.
He also emphasized that the Russians suffers daily dozens of casualties—killed or wounded—in this direction.
"Carrying such heavy losses, of course, the enemy may now be regrouping its units there or possibly reducing the intensity of its actions," added the spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service.
