Cybersecurity experts of the Security Service have detained an agent from the main directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia (known as 'Gru'), who adjusted the Russian air attack on Kharkiv on October 6 this year.
That day, the occupiers used 'Iskander' missiles on the regional center. As a result of the enemy's strike, two civilians were killed, including a 10-year-old boy, and dozens of civilians were wounded. Several residential buildings in the center of Kharkiv suffered significant damage and destruction.
It has been established that to prepare the missile attack, the Russian agent provided electronic coordinates of 'targets' to the invaders with reference to the terrain.
According to the investigation, the traitor turned out to be a man who worked as a foreman at a local company specializing in road and bridge construction. The Russian intelligence service recruited him remotely through the Telegram messenger.
Under the guise of work trips, the agent monitored the locations and movements of Ukrainian forces on the territory of the region.
He transmitted the obtained information to the Russian handler through a 'liaison' from the temporarily occupied part of eastern Ukraine. This intermediary was revealed to be one of the former leaders of the terrorist organization 'LNR' with the nickname 'Shaman,' who had previously been informed of the suspicion by the Security Service of Ukraine.
Based on the collected evidence, the investigators of the Security Service informed the enemy agent of the suspicion under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (state treason committed under conditions of martial law).
Currently, he is in custody. The investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime. The perpetrator faces the possibility of a life sentence.
Comprehensive measures were carried out by the SSU personnel in the Kharkiv region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
