A working meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Oksana Osmachko, Head of the State Agency for Land Reclamation, Fisheries, and Food Programs of Ukraine Vladyslav Neveselyi, and representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The discussion focused on opportunities to enhance Ukraine-Japan cooperation, particularly in fisheries and land reclamation. The participants emphasized support for the restoration of damaged state fish hatcheries and proposed the creation of a specialized fisheries laboratory to boost aquaculture efficiency in Ukraine.
The sides also discussed ways of providing technical assistance for restoring and modernizing irrigation infrastructure.
Ukraine expressed deep gratitude to Japan for its steadfast support and solidarity during this challenging time.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is a government body providing the bulk of Japan’s official development assistance, aiming to foster economic and social development in partner countries and to strengthen international cooperation.
JICA is funding the Emergency Recovery Programme for Ukraine. In 2023–2024, three grant agreements (Phase 1, Phase 2, and Phase 3) were signed between JICA and the Government of Ukraine. As part of this program and with the support of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the State Fisheries Agency received Komatsu machinery—wheel and crawler excavators, backhoe loaders, bulldozers, and more.
