It is planned that by 2035, Ukraine will have four brigades equipped with modern aircraft. Spokesperson for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Yuriy Ignat, revealed this information during the live broadcast of the telethon Unified News.
"Undoubtedly, the F-16 is the main type of aircraft that will gradually replace the outdated 'Soviet wings'," emphasized the officer. "But there will be other types of aircraft that will defend our airspace. Currently, there are serious consultations within the aviation coalition."
According to him, intensive training is currently underway for pilots and technicians who will be able to service these aircraft. In Romania, a training center for Ukrainian pilots may also open soon. This was mentioned in a memorandum recently signed by the defense ministers of the Netherlands and Romania.
"These are very good news for Ukraine," noted Colonel Yuriy Ignat. "But this is a matter of the future. Currently, pilots are successfully training in Denmark, the United Kingdom, and other training centers."
