Ukraine has entered the final stage of the legislative screening process to ensure compliance with European Union standards, having begun discussions with the European Commission on the last cluster concerning resources, agriculture, and cohesion policies.
This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Taras Kachka on Facebook.
“Screening — a key element of the EU accession negotiations — has reached the home stretch. Together with the European Commission, we have started discussions on the final cluster in our schedule, which covers resources, agriculture, and cohesion policy,” he emphasized.
Kachka noted that this cluster addresses some of the most sensitive issues in the negotiations with the EU and informed that today’s talks will focus on agricultural policy: farmer support, rural development, control systems, and administrative procedures.
“Behind these technical matters lies a great deal of politics, which we have experienced firsthand over the past few years. The vulnerability of both Ukrainian and European farmers makes agricultural issues among the most politically sensitive. In this part of the negotiations, the involvement of all stakeholders and mutual understanding between all parties are especially important,” the Deputy Prime Minister underlined.
