The government is allocating 1.65 billion UAH for the purchase of modern equipment for the updated "Defense of Ukraine" course. Special educational centers will be created in cities, with one center serving 5-10 schools or a community.
This was reported by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov, on Telegram.
"We continue to transform school education. Educational centers for the Defense of Ukraine will be established in cities. One center will serve 5-10 schools or a community. A well-equipped center means that children from different schools will have equal access to quality equipment and convenient facilities," the message states.
Modern equipment for the educational centers will be purchased through Prozorro Market, including:
- Interactive laser shooting simulators
- Drone operation simulations, including drones, interactive glasses, controllers, and other equipment
- Training shooting ranges and models
- First aid kits and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) trainers, defibrillator trainers, and tourniquets
"The whole country lives under the conditions of a full-scale invasion, where technology plays a crucial role, so children need to learn to work with it from school. This is the foundation of our secure future," Fedorov added.
The approach to teaching "Defense of Ukraine" in grades 10-11 is being comprehensively updated. Previously, this subject was called "Defense of the Fatherland" or "Pre-conscription Training." In addition to purchasing modern equipment, trainers are currently being trained to prepare teachers.
- This discipline will occupy 100% of the working time of specialized teachers, rather than being an additional subject. Teachers who teach "Defense of Ukraine" will receive a full salary.
- Some modules will be taught by teachers from military academies and other specialized educational institutions.
- The "Defense of Ukraine" program does not have standard and specialized levels. It includes premedical care with elements of tactical medicine, military technology, battlefield communication, basic knowledge of topography, and tactics.
- The updated program is flexible. If students like certain areas more, the school can create additional courses to teach these modules in more detail.
- Students will come to the center for training for an entire day (instead of eight lessons over a month).
- The subject will be taught to both boys and girls.
