Canadian partners will join in solving logistical problems to expand the carrying capacity of the Ukrainian railway.

The corresponding agreement was reached during the negotiations of the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov, the Minister of Transport of Canada Omar Alghabra, representatives of the two ministries, as well as the heads of Ukrzaliznytsia and the Railway Association of Canada (Railway Association of Canada).

"Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, control over 6,000 kilometers of railway tracks has been damaged or lost, fifty bridges have been destroyed, and dozens of railway stations and stations have ceased functioning.

Together with our Canadian partners, we agreed on creating a joint working group, where we will define priority cooperation projects together. We expect that in the near future we will start working on specific projects and start implementing them.

I am grateful to my colleague Omar Alghabra for the initiative to create such a group and for supporting Ukraine from the first days of the invasion. I am sure that the experience of Canadian railway workers will allow not only to restore the infrastructure but also to improve it significantly," commented the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine.

In particular, the Canadian Pacific Railway Company (CP) and the Canadian National Railway (CN) will provide expert support to Ukrzaliznytsia in railway management, development of logistics capabilities and infrastructure reconstruction.

Oleksandr Kubrakov also invited Canadian partners to participate in the implementation of key infrastructure projects in the areas of road management, development of water transport and the port industry.
