Russians have deployed a new guidance and correction module for unguided aerial bombs.
This was reported by the Telegram channel "Colonel GS."
The munition contains the warhead of the FAB-250 aerial bomb, integrated into the body of the module itself, as well as inertial and satellite navigation systems, specifically a new version of "Komet" with 8 antennas.
The munition has its own aerodynamic surfaces – ailerons and tail fins – and presumably a suspended turbojet engine and fuel tank. The munition bears a manufacturing date of February 2024.
Essentially, the new "bomb" represents an inexpensive guided missile. The presence of a suspended system suggests that the munition is air-based.
The probable presence of a turbojet engine suggests that the range of the munition's impact is greater than standard bombs with inertial guidance, but still far from matching guided missiles.
