In the early hours of March 7, 2025, Russian forces carried out a combined missile strike using air-, land-, and sea-launched missiles against critical infrastructure targets, with a primary focus on Ukraine's gas extraction industry.
According to preliminary data, Ukraine’s Air Force radio-technical units detected and tracked 261 Russian aerial threats, including 67 missiles of various types and 194 attack UAVs and decoy drones. Among them were:
- 35 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles,
- 8 Kalibr cruise missiles,
- 3 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles,
- 4 S-300 surface-to-air missiles,
- 8 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles,
- 194 Shahed-type attack UAVs and other drone decoys.
Russian airstrikes were repelled by air defense missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams of the Air Force and Ukraine’s Defense Forces. Fighter jets, including F-16s and Mirage-2000s, were also deployed. Notably, French fighter jets, which arrived in Ukraine just a month ago, participated for the first time in repelling an aerial assault.
As of 10:00 AM, confirmed Russian losses include:
- 25 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles,
- 8 Kalibr cruise missiles,
- 1 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile,
- 100 Shahed-type attack drones and other UAVs.
Additionally, up to 10 Russian missiles failed to reach their targets and are not included in the confirmed interception statistics. Meanwhile, 86 decoy drones were lost from radar tracking without any negative consequences.
