Ukraine and Lithuania discuss strengthening the defense industry and developing joint projects
First Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Serhiy Boiev, held a meeting with Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Julius Pranevičius, during which they discussed ways to strengthen and unite Europe.
The Ukrainian side informed the Lithuanian delegation about the situation on the front line and shared intelligence data indicating that Russia is preparing to continue its war. Serhiy Boiev emphasized that Russia has not abandoned its plans, and the ongoing activity of its defense industry proves this.
"Russia and its allies are evolving in the means they use. Sanctions are not enough, so the world must increase the pressure. Europe must be united, and the defense of the continent must be a shared goal," said Deputy Minister of Defense Serhiy Boiev.
He highlighted priority areas where Europe needs to strengthen its capabilities in order to be ready to protect its population and the continent. Support from Iran and North Korea is bolstering Russia both on the battlefield and in terms of access to critical materials and components. Centralized production of missiles, ammunition, and drones is giving the enemy an advantage.
"The war in Ukraine is our common war, so we must take joint steps to strengthen the capabilities of both Ukraine and Europe as a whole. You can be sure that we are ready to cooperate and share experiences at all levels," assured Lithuanian Deputy Foreign Minister Julius Pranevičius.
Additionally, Deputy Minister for Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Davyd Aloyan, presented the Lithuanian delegation with the progress of Ukraine's defense industry. Together with Serhiy Boiev, he stressed the critical importance of developing air defense and missile defense systems and the corresponding missiles.
